On 22 October, Cannes was elected European's leading destination for Festivals and Events – a first for any French city! Now, Cannes has been awarded second place in the global rankings! Out of the category's 13 finalists at the World Travel Awards 2021, considered the Oscars of Tourism, Cannes finished only behind Cape Town, beating international capitals including Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Dubai and Singapore ! 

With the Cannes Film Festival in July and despite the restrictions linked to the health crisis, Cannes as a destination has obtained very good quantitative and qualitative tourist results for July. This success for the beginning of summer is the result of several months’ preparation with all Cannes’ tourism professionals and the recovery plan introduced in conjunction with the City of Cannes, Palais des Festivals et des Congrès and CRT Côte d'Azur France.

The World Travel Awards 2021, an essential benchmark in the tourism and travel industry, have just revealed the nominees for their 28th edition, among which Cannes features prominently.

The city has been selected in the " Best Europe's Leading Festival & Event Destination " and " Best Europe's Leading Beach Destination " categories.

Two prestigious nominations that once again confirm the status of Cannes as an excellent tourist destination and leader in events in Europe, notably with its Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.

Badly affected by the sudden halting of operations, Cannes’ hotel industry, which helps make Cannes such an attractive destination for tourists, is once again ready to welcome all its summer customers back from June.
Working hard since the beginning of March alongside its socio-professionals, Cannes City Council, under the leadership of David Lisnard, has been heavily involved in responding, anticipating and supporting the tourism sector in the face of the economic and social emergency of the Covid-19 crisis.
 

At the end of February and the first cancellations of events in Europe, David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes, alerted us to the impact of the economic and social crisis which was about to hit the tourism industry in particular (cf. Nice-Matin of 5 March 2020).

The SEMEC and Syndicat des Hôteliers have brought together Cannes hotel and tourist partners to offer exceptional rates to Côte d’Azur Golf Pass members over two weeks of 2020: from 20 to 27 March 2020 and from 23 to 30 October 2020.

The presentation of the Commercial Action Plan 2019 for Cannes as a destination has allowed, in front of more than 380 socio-professionals and partners, for setting out the promotional goals for 2019, after a particularly invigorating 2018.
