Présentation

The Brazilian company whom we first invited to Cannes in 2015, is adulated on the biggest international stages. Grupo Corpo successfully achieves the perfect blend between technical classic virtuosity and the sensual vitality of modern dance, taking its inspirations from many sources.

Dança Sinfônica, created to mark the 40th anniversary of the dance company in 2015, is a kind of retrospective puzzle, celebrating several of its iconic works and highlights the identity and stylistic principles that have shaped its performances since day one: a fluid, athletic, technical and heart-warming dance style, in total unity with the theatrical design, costumes and original musical scores. Under a fresco composed of the faces of the dozens of artists who have played a part in its history, the company offers us the vision of heritage in motion.

With Gira, Grupo Corpo turns its attention to Umbanda, the religion with African roots which is very popular in Brazil and derived from the Candomblé religious tradition. Designed like a celebration dedicated to Exu, the god who acts as the link between the material world and the divine realms, the choreography is infused with an irresistible primitive energy. Carried aloft by a musical rhythm which transcends the breathtaking technique of 21 dancers, the performance is a blend of divine strength with pagan exuberance.

*Suitable for children over 14 and adults
*Meeting with the artistic team at the end of the performance.
