Alegorias

  • Transposed into movements, the philosophical opposition between the sensible and the intelligible infuses, in symbiosis with the flamenco soul, an incandescent dialectic with two bodies.

"Is everything we see real? Or is our world only populated by appearances? As the subtitle suggests, this allegorical duet questions "the limit and its maps". The choreographer Paula Comitre, a rising star in flamenco, performs it herself alongside Lorena Nogal, who has worked with the IT Dansa company and Marcos Mauro's La Veronal collective. The contrast between these two personalities - the first luminous, ardent, the second with sharp precision - and the power of their respective movements electrify a stage design under constant tension. Like the sheet that covers the bodies of the two dancers as a preamble, authentic flamenco vibrates here in contemporary garb, supported by the playing of guitarist Juan Campallo, the singing of Tomas de Perrate and the efficient drumming of Rafael Heredia. The age-old codes of the dance, from the crackling of the feet to the subtle inflections of the hands, melt into the passionate flow that carries the artists united by the same generous passion to the final tableau. This vital impulse takes us on a musical and dance journey to the heart of Andalusia and to other inspiring Latin, Greek and Cuban cultures. Going beyond the limits, to better redraw the maps.
