Cannes asserts its status as a student city. On Saturday 16 December 2023, Cannes will be hosting its first Salon du lycéen et de l'étudiant at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès. The event, organised by the L'Etudiant group in partnership with Cannes Town Hall, provides secondary school pupils, students and their families with comprehensive information on the educational options available in the Cannes area, with almost 70 exhibitors expected to attend. The event is punctuated by a number of conferences designed to inform everyone about the various careers and professional sectors.
The event is the culmination of David Lisnard's ambitious drive to make Cannes a land of higher education and apprenticeships for the benefit of young people and the future.
"In less than two years, Cannes has established itself as a major student town on the French university scene. This positive dynamic is illustrated not only by the success of the Georges Méliès campus, but also by the many local training projects, such as the establishment of the prestigious Vatel hotel school and the extension of the Cannes Higher Institute of Tourism. Today, Cannes is continuing to rejuvenate and gain in academic legitimacy by hosting its first Salon du lycéen et de l'étudiant on 16 December. Our participation in this event testifies to the richness and quality of the education on offer in Cannes. It also embodies a vision of the city that is resolutely focused on the future.
David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes
Promoting and enhancing Cannes' training opportunities
Cannes is now recognised as a genuine student and university town, particularly since the opening of its Georges Méliès campus in 2021, which is home to more than 1,100 students. The l'Etudiant group is therefore joining forces with the municipality to organise the first Salon du lycéen et de l'étudiant cannois on Saturday 16 December 2023 at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes.
The event will provide young people in the Cannes area with essential information to help them choose the right career path and student career. With 70 information stands (university, public and private secondary schools under contract, specialised schools, CFA (apprentice training centres), student life organisations), everyone can access personalised information and discover different professional sectors and trades.A programme of conferences, led by a specialist journalist and local speakers, completes this major event. In addition, a digital platform, managed by the L'Etudiant Group, will be available from the end of November to help visitors prepare for their visit and consult the list of exhibitors and the conference programme.
The event is also an opportunity to bring together young people, parents and training organisations for a friendly day of guidance and employment. For Cannes Town Council, the aim is to promote and enhance the local offer.
Université Côte d'Azur, the Rectorat Académique de Région and the Département des Alpes-Maritimes are also partners.
Cannes City Council will have a stand at the entrance to the show as well as a virtual stand on the website. This space will provide visitors with information on student life in Cannes. The municipality will also have a stand in the CFA area to represent the Faculté des Métiers.
