They have popularised a new concept: Cirque Danse, at the junction of circus arts and choreographic language, whether classical or contemporary. Armed with this sesame, the international and multi-talented artists of Recirquel have been developing since 2014, under the direction of Bence Vági, shows that enchant audiences around the world. The third part of a successful trilogy, Solus Amor, premiered in 2020 at Müpa Budapest, follows My Land, best production 2018 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, played to sold-out audiences at the Off in Avignon, and Non Solus (2015) acclaimed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) in New York. After exploring man's links with mother earth, from birth to death, Vági this time summons "ancestral energy to tell a story about faith and love, about the universe and nature". Alongside the artists, a real polar bear, created by the talented South African puppeteer Janni Younge, is an animal presence. Taking place largely in the air, Solus Amor presents several breathtaking series of tricks, combined with purely lyrical dance sequences. The set design, costumes and music by Edina Mókus Szirtes create a multi-dimensional, timeless space, uniting the distant past and the near future in a single movement.

    The Recirquel Company
Founded in 2012 in Budapest by director and choreographer Bence Vági, Recirquel has become one of the leading contemporary circus companies in the world. Its pioneering productions have raised awareness of this new art form among Hungarian and international audiences. Its style has its roots in classical Hungarian theatre as well as in Bence Vági's 2017 show in Budapest for the closing ceremony of the 17th World Swimming Championships, which already combined dance and circus around Hungary's oldest legend.
