International Dance Festival

Another festival in Cannes is biennial and inescapable. This one honors the choreographic for 20 years and reflects the historical relationship of Cannes with the dance. It takes place for 10 days in late November to discover the contemporary creations of large international companies.

Since it's creation in 1984, The Cannes Dance Festival has become one of the world's most prestigious and recognised festivals.

Its existence has built a strong relationship not only with the city of Cannes, but also with the dance world, due to the inauguration of the International Dance Academy in 1961: "Rosella Hightower".

Since 1993, this biannual Festival has built its identity around numerous creations centered around contemporary dance, presenting new talents and innnotive works of many international Dance Companies.

Choreographer and Manager of the National Ballet of Marseille, Frédéric Flamand, was promoted in 2011 as the New Artistic Director of the Cannes Dance Festival. In 2011 the theme of the Festival was based on "Modern Myths", however this year the Festival will be focused on "Tracks and Reflections". This programme incorporates a lot of detailed and sense-orientaded creation, and points at a strong stylistic and technical evolution in international contemporary choreography.

What Team Festival has to offer :
. Festival awareness building to the public (through schools, associations, CE, dance schools, etc ...)
. Master classes for those who wish to deepen their practice through workshops led by the scheduled choreographers and dancers of style festival.
. Meetings and discussions with artists and choreographers.
. A themed seminar with leading international researchers organised by the Dance Section of the Department of Arts, at the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis.

Musical Nights of the Suquet

In July, the appointment of reference to the classic stage: prestigious orchestras, artists and young prodigies revisit the large directory on the square of the church Our Lady of Hope in Le Suquet.

Created in 1975 by the pianist Gabriel Tacchino, under the artistic management of Bernard Oheix since 2011, the “Musical Nights du Suquet” musical evening are a real institution in the world of classical music.

Orchestras, musicians, soloists, and young talents meet every summer in the historical part of Cannes, near the church of Notre Dame de l’Espérance, to offer exceptional concerts, recitals, meetings and new creations. From Mozart to Chopin… strings, violins or pianos, all the best musicians are present every year in the Le Suquet open-air space.

The program is both classical and surprising and this festival will please those who appreciate classical music with a touch of modernity.
