The famous Carlton Hotel in Cannes has become a partner of the 45th Régates Royales, to be held from 24 to 30 September 2023, featuring the European Championship of the 12 MJI, the legendary yachts that competed in the America's Cup between 1958 and 1987. More than 150 of the world's most famous classic yachts are expected in the Bay of Cannes.

1913. The monumental building in neoclassical "belle époque" style opened that year after three years of titanic construction. The 250 rooms on six floors catered for a clientele that was bothwealthy clientele who were also fond of the Cannes climate. In 1930, a year after the birth of the Régates Royales, the hotel broke new ground with the Carlton Beach Club, the first private beach in Cannes, which was to be emulated throughout the Côte d'Azur and the world.

Carlo Stragiotto, General Manager of the Carlton Cannes: "The Carlton Hotel and the Yacht Club de Cannes have both played a crucial role in the history of our city. Sharing the same values of excellence, passion and respect for tradition, we are delighted to be joining forces with the Yacht Club de Cannes to further enhance Cannes' status as a must-see destination for yachting enthusiasts". To mark the occasion, a 'Special Régates Royales' cocktail has just been created using curaçao, gin, gin beefeater, lemon juice and homemade lavender syrup, and is being previewed this Friday 7 July alongside the official poster.

Jean François Cutugno, President of the Cannes Yacht Club: "One of the highlights of the Régates Royales is the way it combines art and culture with sailing. It's in the DNA of the event and of the town. We're keen to ask a great artist to design the official poster, and it's a huge honour to have Mr Brainwash this year. These 45th Régates Royales are also shaping up to be a great event, with an exceptional line-up. But I'm not forgetting either that the Yacht Club continues to train future champions, while supporting young crews of a very high calibre, such as Matisse Pacaud and Lucie de Gennes, world youth champions, who are currently dominating the European championship in Poland.

The official poster for the 45th Régates Royales has been designed by French artist Thierry Guetta, aka Mr Brainwash, who is now the talk of Hollywood. The filmmaker, who has long been an adept of nocturnal street art, is still just as fond of creating works specifically for major events, and has produced a magnificent image of the world's finest classic sailing event. "Thank you for doing me the honour of choosing me as President of the YCC," explains the enthusiastic artist. "I can already see myself out on the water. It's not just an adventure, it's a dream and nothing but happiness. I've tried to bring back the Carlton, the Bay of Cannes, the sailing boats... Life is beautiful!
