The big blockchain event.
The 8th edition of the Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC), Europe's largest gathering dedicated to the Ethereum blockchain, was held in Cannes in 2025. It was a resounding success, attracting more than 6,500 accredited attendees and 10,000 participants. Building on this enthusiasm, Ethereum France has chosen to base itself in Cannes to organise the association's next three annual conferences, until 2028. The 9th edition of EthCC will take place from 30 March to 2 April 2026. This choice confirms the relevance of the Web3 strategy promoted by the City and its Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.

"We are working to make Cannes ever more welcoming, innovative and forward-looking. The Ethereum Community Conference, recognised as one of the two leading global conferences in the field of cryptocurrencies, which used to change location regularly, has decided to sign up to Cannes for three consecutive editions. Our city is thus establishing itself not only as a capital for professional events, but also as a pioneer in connected hospitality and an essential international platform for emerging technologies, capable of anticipating the uses of tomorrow and offering new economic opportunities to its professionals."
David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes

"Becoming the first conference centre in France to offer cryptocurrency payments demonstrates our ongoing commitment to innovation in pursuit of our mission: to welcome the world in a sustainable way. With EthCC, we are bringing together an international community that places blockchain and Web3 at the heart of its practices, and positioning Cannes as a major player in finance. This meeting between technological innovation and event excellence confirms Cannes' role as a global benchmark."
Jean-Michel Arnaud, President of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes

‘After the success of the previous edition, the choice to return to Cannes was obvious. EthCC in Cannes affirms France as a driving force behind the institutional adoption of Web3 and a pillar of the European ecosystem. We are convinced of the city's potential and will redouble our ambitions for 2026.’
Jérôme de Tychey, President of Ethereum France

Cannes transformed into an international hub for the Ethereum community

It's now official: Jean-Michel Arnaud, President of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, and Bettina Boon Falleur, Conference Director, have signed the contract to host and organise the Ethereum Community Conference in Cannes for three years. The dates for the next three editions are already known: 30 March to 2 April 2026 for EthCC[9], 5 to 8 April 2027 for EthCC[10] and 3 to 6 April 2028 for EthCC[11].

This commitment until 2028 follows on from the 2025 edition of EthCC, which marked a turning point for the Ethereum ecosystem. For four days, Cannes was transformed into a global blockchain hub, welcoming an international community of high-level developers, entrepreneurs and large companies, particularly from the world of finance, to discuss the evolution and prospects of the Ethereum blockchain, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year: 400 international speakers, 6,500 accredited attendees, 72 sponsors and 10,000 participants.

EthCC 2025 ended with another major event in the ecosystem: ETH Global, a three-day hackathon bringing together 1,000 of the brightest international developers from the global tech scene, which has seen the emergence of unicorns in the sector.

These figures reflect not only the growing importance of Ethereum and its conference, but also Cannes' capacity to host international professional events and conferences, such as Cannes Lions, MIPIM, Tax Free World Exhibition, etc., as well as the Cannes Film Festival, the world's largest cultural event.

By hosting the Ethereum Community Conference for three consecutive years, alongside world-class innovation events such as the World Artificial Intelligence Cannes Festival (WAICF), the Datacloud Global Congress and the IT & Cybersecurity Meetings, Cannes is confirming its position as a must-visit international destination for events on emerging technologies.

Web3: Cannes' ambition on the international stage

The Web3 strategy promoted by Cannes City Council and the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès is based on three pillars:
- anticipating and modernising uses: integrating innovations into everyday life in the region, without ideology, but with clarity and pragmatism.
- training and supporting local tourism professionals: not suffering technological disruptions but understanding them, explaining them and turning them into levers for economic development;
- promoting the attractiveness of Cannes as a destination: differentiating itself internationally with a modern, fluid and connected offering in line with the expectations of residents, conference attendees, tourists and investors;

By integrating these new technologies into its development policies, Cannes is embracing its role as a regional testing ground, at the crossroads of tourism, culture, economics and innovation.
