At Plages Électroniques, tens of thousands of people take part in France’s biggest beach party every year. In a dream setting, electro music’s biggest stars follow one another in fiery summer DJ sets. For the organizers, the real challenge is to preserve the environment and limit their carbon footprint. So they redouble their efforts at each edition to take concrete measures.

Every summer, Plages Électroniques has a knack for creating a shock event. It’s one of the busiest festivals in Europe, capable of attracting

50,000 people ready to wiggle their feet in the water or on the superb Palais terrasse.

The electro palette

The decor isn’t everything. If Plages Électroniques is so successful, it’s also because of the very high-level programming.

The stars of the genre have followed one another since the first edition launched in 2006.

The organizers’ objective? To offer a festival that introduces the main currents in electronic music to as many people as possible.

Commitment to the environment

Such a challenge: “producing a festival with tens of thousands of people with their feet in the water, while remaining environmentally friendly and limiting its carbon impact, is not easy” admit the organizers.

However, they roll up their sleeves at each edition to take concrete measures and move forward along this path. These include year-round awareness campaigns, underwater clean-ups, drastic measures on waste and the permanent hunting of single-use plastics.
