ACE OF GOLD GAME OF THE YEAR

The Festival’s top prize is aimed at the general public, with games that can be played “equally” by children (aged 8 and over) and adults. They require a good command of reading and have rules that are easy to explain. Examples: Micro Macro, Unlock, Azul, Kingdomino, Odin.

The category

It includes games for children aged 3 to 7. The rules, duration and equipment must be adapted to the child’s abilities. Examples: Opération Noisettes, Mon Puzzle Aventure Dragon, Flashback: Zombie Kidz.

The category

This category is aimed at people who are used to playing, and who prefer games with more detailed mechanisms. The rules demand more attention, the game set-up is precise and the games can last more than an hour. Examples: The Crew, Paléo, It’s a Wonderful World, Behind.

The category

Here we find games with complex assemblies of various game mechanisms, requiring a substantial investment in terms of understanding the rules, playing time, length of campaigns, etc. Their themes can be strong and tackle more ‘adult’ subjects. Examples: Terraforming Mars, Scythe, Dilemme du roi, Kutna Hora.
