The 2024 summer season was a particularly successful one for Cannes’ hotel industry, with occupancy rates up sharply on the previous year. In August, the rate peaked at 92.6%, up 5 points on 2023, the highest in the Alpes-Maritimes department (90.9%). The summer was also marked by record attendance at festive events such as the Plages électroniques, enabling Cannois and tourists alike to enjoy a rich season of events and culture. These excellent results show that the quality of life in Cannes continues to appeal to tourists and conventioneers alike. In fact, the Mairie de Cannes is maintaining a high level of investment to improve living comfort for residents and enhance the city’s appeal (80 million euros by 2024 and 655 million euros since 2014), while reducing municipal debt (-71.55 million euros since 2014) and applying strict fiscal restraint. These performances, sources of jobs and prosperity, are the fruit of the actions and investments of Cannes Town Hall, the Palais des festivals et des congrès, as well as private operators, with a total investment of 1 billion euros on the part of hoteliers and private establishments. These efforts are reflected in the upgrading of infrastructures, a rigorous urban cleanliness plan, the planting of public spaces (37,000 trees in Cannes, i.e. one for every two inhabitants, creation of 11 squares since 2014, etc.) and an ambitious security policy (924 video surveillance cameras, i.e. one for every 79 inhabitants, protection against major risks, etc.). Early indicators show that September, traditionally known as the month of yachting, will be just as promising. Several events and conventions are scheduled to take place in Cannes and at the Palais des festivals et des congrès, including the launch of the Cannes Paddle Festival (September 7), the Cannes Yachting Festival, which will welcome 55,000 international visitors (September 10 to 15), the SilverEco Festival (September 16 and 17), Les Régates Royales (September 23 to 28), the Tax Free World Exhibition (September 29 to October 3) and MIPCOM, celebrating its 40th anniversary (October 21 to 24).
