As part of the 46th edition of the World Tourism Fair in Paris, the Creative Tourism Network® has announced the addition of Cannes to its network, awarding the city the label of "Creative Friendly Destination".
With this, the City of Cannes hopes to implement a new ecosystem which will benefit the entire population and the professionals of Cannes, through the creation of authentic experiences intended to diversify its offer – particularly in the off-season. The aim is also to discover another facet of this destination – a more human and creative side – thanks to the know-how of its inhabitants.
After keeping its European title for the second consecutive year, Cannes has just been voted by its peers, the professional media and all Cannes lovers, “World's Leading Festival and Event Destination” at the World Travel Awards 2022, generally considered to be the Oscars of Tourism.
This Sunday, 30 October, the people in Cannes were able to meet Léro, the little blue dragon who has always watched over the town in secret. During the Nice-Cannes marathon, this Cannes legend revealed himself, having clearly decided to share the daily lives of the town’s inhabitants. To meet him is to adopt him!
The Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes is launching its digital platform dedicated to tourism.
Awarded in 2021 by the World Travel Awards, a leading name in the tourism and travel industry, Cannes has once again been short-listed for the European final this year! This time, the city is up against Barcelona, Budapest, Dublin, London and Munich. A prestigious nomination that attests both to the status of Cannes as a European leader in the events industry – particularly thanks to the dynamism of its Palais des Festivals et des Congrès – and to its ability to bounce back after the pandemic with an exceptional return to operation.
On 22 October, Cannes was elected European's leading destination for Festivals and Events – a first for any French city! Now, Cannes has been awarded second place in the global rankings! Out of the category's 13 finalists at the World Travel Awards 2021, considered the Oscars of Tourism, Cannes finished only behind Cape Town, beating international capitals including Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Dubai and Singapore !
With the Cannes Film Festival in July and despite the restrictions linked to the health crisis, Cannes as a destination has obtained very good quantitative and qualitative tourist results for July. This success for the beginning of summer is the result of several months’ preparation with all Cannes’ tourism professionals and the recovery plan introduced in conjunction with the City of Cannes, Palais des Festivals et des Congrès and CRT Côte d'Azur France.
